Large Group Speech Competes, Seven Qualify For All-State

On Saturday, February 8th, the City High Large Group Speech team competed at Cedar Rapids Linn-Marr. Large Group Speech competitions consist of teams from the respective districts performing specific excerpts and scenes from literary works, and then having their performance rated by judges.
The teams consist of two Ensembles, three Improv teams, two Musical Theater, Reader’s Theater, a One-Act, and a Choral Reading team.
The two Ensembles, two Improvs, both Musical Theaters, and the Choral Reading teams all qualified for All-State.
“It went pretty well,” Ellis Fontana ’16 said. “I mean, you can’t expect to have everything going to All-State. But as a whole, we did well.”
