Rebecca Storey and Taylor Milefchik perform “Soaking Wet”

On Saturday, 4th Ave Jazz Co. and City Lights went head to head in the competition against the Cedar Rapids and Midwest show choirs.

For the daytime competition, 4th avenue placed 3rd in Varsity 4A groups and advanced onto finals. City Lights placed 2nd in prep group 4A daytime competition and for the second time EVER advanced to finals. City Lights also won best band and Emma Myers- Verhage won best female soloist.

“It was crazy! No one thought City Lights could make it to finals but somehow they pulled together as a group and preformed the best they ever had,” Rachel Fisher said.

Both groups continued onto finals and results at the end of the night were:

Grand Champion- Cedar Rapids Kennedy Happiness Inc.

1st Runner up- Totino Grace Company of Singers

2nd Runner up- Papillion La Vista Free Spirit

3rd Runner up- Iowa City City High 4th Ave Jazz Co.

4th Runner up- Cedar Rapids Kennedy Protege

5th Runner up- Iowa City City High City Lights
