It’s that time of year again. The hooping high-schooler masses of Iowa City will descend upon Robert A. Lee Rec Center to decide, once and for all, who the best team of 2015 is. Yes, the regular season championship holds some merit (as this year’s humble champs, the Twisters, will tell you themselves) but true Rec League glory can only be obtained through the tourney.

“Plain and simple, we’re the best team in this league. People like to act as if winning the regular season takes second fiddle, but it’s medal is the exact same size.” said the outspoken coach of the still undefeated Twisters, Ryan Weaver. “Literally, the medals for the regular season and the tournament are of equal size and weight. You can’t tell me that the regular season doesn’t mean anything.”

This years tournament offers up some interesting first round match ups to say the least. The all female IC Balls have what is arguably their best shot at victory tonight against Can’t Score Won’t Score, whose only win this season was due to a forfeit. Fiddler On The Hoop looks to get it’s second victory of the season against W$D, who have been steadily bolstering their lineup over the past couple weeks. The Cherubs will play Tate for the second week in a row, and after a deciding victory last week, the Warriors will surely be better prepared the second week around. BYOB, whose rumored to have added some serious, borderline illegal talent, looks to upset Backfire after being blown out in their only meeting this season.
