A Ball of Fun Set for January 23

It’s “snow” joke; the winter formal “Snowball” is truly happening.

“I’m super excited for the dance, I think it will be a lot of fun. The people who have been working on the Snowball have been super pumped,” Olivia Baird ’19 said.

Baird, a member of the student senate, is enthusiastically planning the Snowball.

The dance will take place on Saturday, January 23 in the City High cafeteria from 7pm to 10 pm. Tickets range from $3 individually to $5 for a set of two, and will soon be sold outside of the cafeteria during lunch hours.

The Snowball is different from the other school dances because it is a Sadie Hawkins dance. Ladies ask the men to the dance, a spin from the age-old routine of men asking women as dates. This tradition derived its name from a 1930s comic strip featuring a woman, Sadie Hawkins, who chased men around, asking them to marry her.
