The soft focus effect hack, using pantyhose, gives the photo a… soft focus. The materials needed for this hack are a piece of pantyhose and a rubber band. Place the pantyhose over the camera and secure it with the rubber band. Compared to the photos on www.photoblog.com, the result was satisfying and gave us exactly what we wanted — a soft focus around the model. This hack receives four out of five stars.

The chapstick blur hack creates a fuzzy edge of the picture with a focused center. The materials needed for this hack are chapstick and a plastic bag. Place the plastic bag over the camera lens and rub chapstick on it in circles. The photo turned out with the fuzzy edges and a central area but was a little too unfocused. This hack receives three stars.

The marker hack creates a colored filter. The materials needed for this hack are a plastic bag and colored markers. Place the plastic bag over the camera lens and draw patches of different colors over the lens. The photo turned out to be delightful with different color over the picture, but the plastic bag made the photo blurry. This hack receives two stars.

The shaped bokeh, or buried lights in a photo, hack turns lights into a certain shape. The materials needed for this hack is a piece of paper, scissors, string lights. Trace the piece of paper over the camera lens. Then cut out the circle and cut out a shape in the middle of the circle. Place the circle over the camera and focus on the string lights. The hack did not work in the picture. The light’s bokeh did not turn into the shape of a heart, so this hack receives zero stars.

The strainer hack creates a shadow effect. The materials needed for this hack are a strainer and a light source, like a flashlight or a phone light. Hold the light source above the strainer close to producing a shadow pattern. For this hack, the light source needs to be a strong light. The hack would have worked better if the room was totally dark. I would give this hack four stars.

The CD hack creates a rainbow. The materials needed for this hack is a CD and a light source. Shine the light source on the CD to project the rainbow. The CD should be moved around for different rainbow effects. For this hack the works better if the room is dark. This hack receives four stars.
