Pack-the-Pickup at Homecoming Parade

Pack-the-Pickup+at+Homecoming+Parade

This year at the City High homecoming parade, parade goers are asked to bring canned food items in exchange for candy.

“We ask people to please bring canned food donations or any non-perishable stuff, and help us pack a pickup full of food for the Crisis Center food bank,” Lia Phanthavong ’13 said.

Last year was the first year for this event, which was organized and put on by Sophie Neems ’12.

“Last year we collected over 1 ton of food so we’re trying to beat that amount this year,” Phanthavong said.

Pack-the-Pickup is organized by Student Senate, Ambassadors, and The Interact Club. All food will be donated to the Crisis Center.

“These are sort of the three service clubs of City High School, and we would like to raise over one ton of food this year,” Liliana Coelho ’13, Co-President of Interact said.

The parade begins Thursday at 6 o’clock at the Mercer Aquatic Center and will march through First Avenue, ending at Bates Field.

“We hope that several students and families from the community come to the parade with cans to donate,” said Coelho.
