Nails were bitten and patience tested Monday after school as students and coaches alike eagerly awaited the announcement of the 2010 IHSSA Large Group Speech All-State Festival program.
A record number of students received All-State honors this year. All three of the Ensembles from City High, A New York Minute with Cole Hotek ’11 and Shannon Bowling ’10; A Coupla Bimbos Sittin’ Around Talkin’ with Francesca Lubecki-Wilde ’13, Christina Sullivan ’13, Sage Behr ’12, and Lian Markovich ’10; and Mere Mortals with Mike Sobaski ’11, Harrison Burke ’11, and Josh Titler ’11, received non-performing nominations, or honorable mentions. One Group Improvisation team, consisting of Susan Graves ’10, Andy Fenneman ’11, and Philip Buatti ’11, earned a performing nomination, which means they will perform for judges on February 20th at the Iowa State Center in Ames.
