The donation jars are set up in the main office.

Political Awareness Club is displaying in the main office refugee donation jars with presidential candidate’s faces. The club is hoping caucus season will attract people to donate money into the jar of their preferred candidate.

There are eight jars for each presidential candidate. Students, staff, or anyone wanting to help out can put money into the jar of their favorite candidate. All donated money will later be given to the American Refugee Committee, which is currently very focused on helping the Syrian Refugees. There isn’t a set goal for donations.

“A realistic [amount of money] … is about $100,” President of the Political Awareness Club, Sonali Durham ‘16, said. “The time period for donating will likely end when a fair amount of money has been raised.”

The idea was brought to the club when Durham and a friend brought it up at a club meeting.

“We thought it was just a fun way to get people to donate because it’s caucus season,” Durham said.
