City High Places 9th at MVC Conference Championship

On January 23, City placed ninth in the MVC Championships downtown at the CRWC .

“I thought it went really well, we all swam hard,” Hagen Opitz ’16 said. “In the end we may have not gotten the result we were hoping for, but the effort was definitely admirable.”

Captains Jake Sammons ’16 and Andrew Parr ’16 agreed saying that the team competed well and they saw a lot of improvement.

“We all tried out best,” Parr said. “We had a lot of best times which is good for nearing the end of the season.”

Individual highlights for City included Jake Sammons ’16 placing 2nd in the 200 free, Nate Katalinich ’16 placed 2nd in the 200 medley, Donald Hill finished 2nd in the 50 free, Hagen Opitz ’16 finished 2nd in 100 butterfly, Hagen Opitz finished 2nd in 500 free, Cole Donahue ’16 finished 2nd, Van Daele ’17, Naylor ’18, Optiz, Hill finished 1st in the 400 Free Relay.

“I thought the boys did really well,” team manager Annelyn Broghammer said. “I’m looking forward to watching and cheering them on at districts.”
