BUZZ! The audience jumped at the blaring announcement to the start of the wrestling match, and then settled down to watch the City High Little Hawks compete against the Waterloo East Trojans and the Dubuque Hempstead Mustangs at their home meet on January 6. Many City High students enjoyed this match, which ended in two City High victories with scores of 38-31 against Dubuque, and 67-9 against Waterloo East. Highlights of the game included pins by Alex Lemus, Evgeney Kolyvanov, Bryton Jones, Kody Dailey and Cody Donnelly and wins by forfeit by Mike Hunter, Kolyanov, Jones, Mitch Hasler, Tyler Hill, Andrew Mahone, Steve Ferentz, and Brad Gingerich. Brad Smith, head varsity coach, described the general arc of the game.
“We started off with a good lead,” said Smith, “and we followed all the way through with a great finish.”
