ICCSD Releases Seven Pages of Halloween Food Guidelines

In preparation for Halloween festivities, the ICCSD has released seven pages of guidelines which detail acceptable food for children to bring into school. Although popcorn, hummus and rice cakes all appear on the list, typical Halloween treats such as candy or baked goods are conspicuously absent. In order for a food to be deemed healthy under these guidelines, it must be prepackaged, low in sugar, sodium, and saturated fat, and have fewer than 200 calories per serving. Fresh fruit and vegetables are also highly encouraged.
