After weeks of cold weather and rainy days, the JV boys tennis team finally got on the courts at home against Kennedy last wednesday night.

At first, most matches seemed to be quite one-sided easy wins by the Cougars and the Little Hawks. But as the singles matches kept on, they became closer and closer.

“The guy had some power,” Ethan Snee ‘19 says. “but once I found out how to play with his backhand, I felt I had a chance.”

Snee ended up winning during a tie-breaker match after going 11 points into the seventh game.

Along with the tie-breaking win from Snee, Will Pedersen ‘18 and Eric Thomas ‘18 also finished their long matches with victories after going into tie-breakers themselves.

While all of the close matches usually ended in City’s favor, first seed Jack Motto ‘19 wasn’t able to pull through.

“While the score sounds like he was a lot better, three or four of our matches ended in deuce.” said Motto when he lost his match 6-1.

At the end of the night the numbers favored City with a 7-2 win.

“We have some really good boys,” Coach Dominic Audia explained. “We still have a lot of work to do though–although we won by five, all of the matches were super close”
