On Saturday, December 12th, City High 4th Avenue Showchoir competed at the “Supernova”
competition in Marion, Iowa at Linn-Mar High School.

4th Ave performed twice, once in the afternoon for the preliminary rounds, in which they ranked third, and a second time at night, for the finals, where they moved up to first runner up.

Cedar Rapids Kennedy took first place, besting City High by 19 points, on a 400 point scale.

As well as getting first runners up, David Maize ’13 won Best Male Soloist.

The 4th Ave Combo placed second, losing to Milton in Wisconsin by only 2 points on a 50 point scale.

Schools that competed came from cities in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

4th Avenue will compete next in Mt. Pleasant at the “Music InMotion” Competition February 2nd. They will be competing against schools like Davenport Central High School, who, by only a few points, beat 4th Ave at two competitions last year.
