On Tuesday, March 12, nationally renowned financial adviser Adam Carroll spoke to the junior class about their future in “The Money Game”.
“I thought it was a very interesting presentation on money” said Sam English 14 “I learned a lot.”
Carroll had three major points in his speech. The first was “If you can eat it drink it or wear it it doesn’t go on plastic.” Carroll went on to say that clothes and consumables should be bought with cash, not credit cards, which should only be used for large necessary transactions.
The second point was “Do for two years what most people won’t do. And you’ll do for the rest of your life what most people can’t do.”
Carroll went on to say that during college and for two years after college you should save your money so that later in your life you will have more luxury to take time off.
The third point was “Build a bigger life, not a bigger lifestyle.” Carroll said not to waste money on frivolous things, to save money so you can use it to improve your life in important ways.
At the end of the assembly each student received a copy of Carroll’s book “Winning The Money Game” which goes into more detail about every point in his speech.
