On a windy Saturday afternoon, the girls track team competed in the West Des Moines Valley Invitational, placing fourth out of eight teams with 118 points, just behind West Des Moines Valley.
Many individuals saw success at the meet this weekend including Ellen Carman ‘14 who placed first in the 3000 with a time of 10:43.46 and Sarah Plock ‘15 who broke the meet record in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:05.03. Plock is currently ranked No. 1 in the state in the 400 hurdles. The 4×400 team made up of Claire Crew ‘13, Sara Blowers ‘15, Sashay Carroll ‘15, and Plock came in second with a time of 4:11.22. In the field events for the Little Hawks, Aliyah Gustafson ‘13 placed second in the discus with a distance of 127-02, and second in the shot put, throwing 41-02.
The team’s next meet is on April 9 in Clinton. Their next home meet will be the annual Forwald/Coleman Relays on April 18.
