With three more show choir competitions to go for 4th Avenue, the group is looking to finish strong.

City Lights is also hoping to improve their show before the end of the season. “We are hosting student-run practices to improve our energy and to work on our show,” Lily O’Brien ’18 said.

At Supernova in Linn-Mar, 4th Ave and City Lights brought home several individual awards.

Addie Bass won the best female soloist award at Linn-Mar’s Supernova show choir competition. The 4th Avenue band also won best combo; taking home home their second win and making it two for two for the season.

4th Avenue placed 6th place in the day rounds, qualifying them for finals that night, where the placed 4th.  City Lights placed 3rd in the freshman division and were unable to make it into finals.

“The energy wasn’t very high in this show compared to our other shows. Our vocals weren’t as strong as they should have been so we didn’t do as well as I wanted to do.” dance captain Lauren O’Brien, ’16 said.

Finals are the determining factor of the group’s overall placement in the competition. Along with O’Brien, Victor Brown-Rodriguez ’16 is curious and hopeful about moving up in the competition.

“Hopefully we can jump up a couple spots, hopefully to third.  The top three would be good,” Brown-Rodriguez said.
