Nerves are in the air. It’s Monday, the first day of auditions for the fall play, Peter Pan, and everyone is tense.
Director Doug Lestina opens the proceedings with a quick speech about how the system works, and they’re off.
“It’s a great story for all ages,” Miriam Thoe ‘12 said of the play. “It speaks to the child in all of us.” Thoe hopes to be cast as Smee, Captain Hook’s bumbling sidekick.
First up is the Darling family. A vast array of talented Wendy Darlings, Johns, and Michaels all strut their stuff for the director. After that, it’s time for the pirates, followed by the Lost Boys.
Tuesday and Wednesday also hosted auditions for students in grades 2-8, through the Young Footlighters. The cast will be revealed Thursday after school.
“I was really nervous,” Taylor Pajunen ‘17 said. “But now that I’m finished, I’m excited to see what will happen.”
