On Friday, January 17, the school district called a snow day on what was supposed to be City High’s second annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Day celebration. Now, it has been announced that, thanks to the hard work of many staff and coordinators, the celebrations have been rescheduled for Thursday, February 13.

“Some speakers or field trips we originally had planned didn’t work on the new date, but there were also other events we wanted to do that didn’t work on the first day but will now because of the rescheduling,” said Scott Black, one of the teachers involved in coordinating the event.

Due to the changes in the schedule, students will need to re-register for courses. The link to sign up for courses can be found on the City High Library homepage.

“It’s important to take a step back and realize that we have a really diverse community,” said Black. “We don’t always acknowledge that as much as we should and taking a day to recognize [our diversity] is an important thing.”
