On tuesday evening at 5 o’Clock pm, Kal Penn spoke to a group of young voters at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Iowa City. While Penn is most known for role as Kumar in the “Harold and Kumar” movie series, he is also associate director for the White House Office of Public Engagement. Penn is a strong supporter of Obama, and came to Iowa City as part of a series of visits he plans to make across the country. He emphasizes the importance of young voters in Obama’s upcoming re-election.
“He’s a president that understands the younger generation, he understands where the country is moving and I think it’s urgent that we continue to have a President like that in the White House,” Penn said, in an interview with KGAN.
