This past weekend, two wrestlers, Matt Lee 13’ and Ryan Maas 14’ competed in the prestigious Keith Young Invitational in Cedar Falls.
City High wrestled against Waverly Shell-Rock, Bettendorf, North Scott, West Des Moines Valley, and twelve other high school wrestling programs.
With only two wrestlers competing, the Little Hawks were able to rally up a total of 46 points which put City High in fifteenth place.
“I am really happy with how I did!” Lee said. “I know I still have a lot of work to do, but I’m on the right track.”
Maas beat the second ranked kid in the state to win the championship title at 220 pounds. Lee beat the second seeded wrestler in his bracket to advance to the semi-finals, and ended up losing in the final round.
“Both of these wrestlers performed extremely well, and I am very proud of them” Connell, head wrestling coach, said.
