As the newest Samsung phones, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were released on March 11. The new phones feature many new and improved components including wireless charging, an expandable memory storage, and waterproofing. The new phones continue the competition between companies to make the best phone. With new features added, Samsung continues to make better devices.

The main difference between the S7 and the S7 Edge is the screen. The S7 has a 5.1” screen while the S7 Edge has a 5.5” screen. The S7 Edge also has the edge feature, which brings the screen onto the front-facing edges of the phone. Compared to the iPhone 6, which has a 4.7” screen, and the iPhone 6 Plus, which is 5.5”, the phones are similarly sized.

Another new feature of the phones is that they have expandable storage. The phones come with a 32GB card, but if that isn’t enough, another SD card, up to 200GB, can be inserted into the phone to provide more space. This is possibly a solution to running out of storage, which with iPhones can not be expanded.

The waterproofing feature helps keep the inside of your phone dry by repelling water and dust. As one of the main features that makes the phones different, this can be helpful for spills and use underwater. In case you are planning on going deep sea diving with your phone, this may not be the best idea, because it is only waterproof for up to 30 minutes in 5 feet or less of water.

Both phones are available through most major phone companies and retailers. With no contract, the S7 edge costs $792 while the S7 is slightly cheaper costing $672. Depending on the retailer and the contract, they are also available for less.
