In recent years, Carleton College has been a popular choice among City High students who are interested in liberal arts colleges. Connor Jackson, an admissions officer at Carleton, thinks one of the factors that could lead students from City to Carleton could be the curiosity found in students at City High.
“Students who find their home at Carleton tend to be abundantly curious. Liberal arts colleges require you to broaden your horizons,” Jackson said. “If you’re someone who loves connecting the ideas between disciplines and connecting ideas in your head, that would make you a good fit.”
After working in Illinois Public Access for a couple of years, Connor Jackson became admissions officer at Carleton College, from which he graduated in 2015.
“I enjoyed working with students, and I realized that I found the topic of pursuing higher education very interesting. Becoming an admissions officer allowed me to promote Carleton and follow these interests,” Jackson said.
Students who came to the informational meeting last Tuesday were able to meet with Jackson and ask questions about life at Carleton. For anyone who did not attend the meeting, the information can be found on their website at https://www.carleton.edu/.
