With the surplus amount of clubs at City High, there’s just about anything for any person, and RPGs are no exception.  Tabletop Role-Playing Games Club (TTRPG Club) is starting it’s second year as a club at City High. The club organizers aspire to introduce both new and experienced RPG players into the club.  RPGs are a type of game that takes a world, usually made by the host of the game, nicknamed the ‘Dungeon Master’ which guides their party of players through a story.

RPGs follow a basic structure with small variations between the different versions.

“Because of the potential complexity of RPGs, we decided to start with Dungeons and Dragons as a simple beginning for new players” Adam Holmes ‘21 said, “As we go on throughout the year we’re going to try more and more RPGs, a lot that people have never heard of, some that I have never even heard of, but I think it’s going to be fun.”

TTRPG Club strives to take these less popular games and bring them into the club members as well as their own arsenal of RPGs they’re able to play. RPGs have a layer of ambiguity in what the games are but Nolan Vivhakar ‘21 thinks that’s what makes the games interesting.

“Some of the main things about RPGs is that it’s all about what you want to do,” Vibhakar explains, “RPGs are really about your decisions, your characters, your players. Whatever you want to do I’m sure there’s some way to do it no matter what game we’re playing.  So come and do what you want to do.”
