After a successful run last year, The Little Hawk staff was excited to begin work on the 2012-13 volume of City High’s student-run paper. After more than a month of development, with its share of trials and tribulations, the first issue of the new school year is ready for its September 21st debut. Here are a few things to check out on Friday:
- Story on the University of Iowa’s party culture and how it affects City High students
- A letter from your editors, Renata Stewart and Cassie Wassink, discussing the new issue and some changes we’ve made
- Brand-new “What in the World?!” page, featuring news from around the world (Be sure to see the new “Compare & Contrast” comedy feature!)
- In-depth news story about the ongoing redistricting of the ICCSD
- The Staff Editorial, discussing race at City High
- The famous “Thumbs Up” and “Thumbs Down” are back in the Opinion section
- Your monthly Horoscopes brought to by Gabriel Basile
- A look at the City High football team’s early struggles and rise to success this season
- Info on our No. 1-ranked volleyball team’s goals for the MVC championship and beyond
- A new “Playmaker Profile” on City High golf team members
This issue also introduces our new feature section, a special surprise we’ve been working on since last year.
