Iowa vs Nebraska Preview

Jonathan House, Sports Reporter

After doing Black Friday shopping, football fans can tune in to watch the Iowa-Nebraska game at 11 am on ABC. Both teams have played difficult schedules in recent weeks, and their records show. Iowa destroyed Northwestern 48-7, then got blown out by Minnesota in their worst performance of the season, and went on to beat an awful Illinois team on the road. Last week, they gave Big 10 West leader Wisconsin a run for their money, but fell 26-24. This game is pretty similar to last year’s, Iowa is 7-4 coming in to the game, and Nebraska was 8-3. Iowa won 38-17 in Lincoln. The Hawkeyes took home the heroes trophy and both teams finished 8-4 in the regular season and 5-3 in the Big 10.

This year, Nebraska has 8 wins again, and Iowa has 7. Once again, people all over are questioning Bo Pelini’s future at Nebraska, especially after Nebraska lost two straight to Minnesota and Wisconsin. Iowa also is 0-3 in trophy games, they must win this to avoid having an empty trophy case. I think Iowa needs to try to run the ball to open up the passing game, and they need to stop Ameer Abdullah, another talented running back. This after having to deal with Melvin Gordon last week.

My prediction: Iowa 28, Nebraska 24
