As we head into the 2019 boy’s tennis season, there are a lot of exciting things to look forward to. Now, John Nicknish ‘22, and Diego Paciotto-Biggers ‘20 spill the tea on the upcoming season. According to Nicknish, this year in tennis is something to look forward to…

Q: Have you played tennis before?

A: Yes, I’ve played tennis on and off for the past three years.

Q: Is this your first year playing for City High School?

A: Yes it is.

Q: Why did you decide to join City High’s tennis team this year?

A: Because I like the sport and want to play it at a different level.

Q: Are you looking forward to the upcoming season?

A: Yes, it’ll be fun to play with some people from our school.

Q: What is your favorite part of tennis?

A: My favorite part of tennis is probably doing an overhead smash at the net.

Paciotto-Biggers agrees, sensing just as much excitement in the air…

Q: How long have you been playing tennis with City High?

A: This will be my third year with City High.

Q: Are you excited to work with some of the new members on the team?

A: I’ll be interesting to see how the team dynamic changes. A lot of players last year were seniors so there’s a lot of room for adjustments.

Q: What is your favorite part of playing tennis?

A: My favorite part of tennis is getting to compete as a team, not just individually. There’s a big difference between playing in individual tournaments, and traveling and competing as a team.

Q: Are you looking forward to the upcoming season?

A: I am looking forward to the season because there’s going to be a big difference from the previous two years, in terms of the people on the team, and along with that I think a new mindset that will help our game a lot.

So you heard it, between fresh players, comradery, and a new mindset, men’s tennis going to be a sport to watch this year at City High!
