On Friday, May 5th, Linn-Mar played the City High Little Hawks at their home stadium. City, whose record was 6-4, played Linn Mar, whose record was 6-2. Varsity kickoff was at 7:00.

The game at first was very even. Both teams fought for and moved the ball. In the first ten minutes of the game, Sydney Deprenger ’18 sent a ball into the box in front of Linn-Mar’s goal, and Sophie Van Meter ’17 finished the ball. The game was very intense and both teams played with urgency to win. At the end of the first half, City was up 1-0.

The second half started off a lot like the first and both teams kept the pressure high. One of Linn Mar’s forward players brought the ball into the box and scored. The game was tied 1-1. The urgency for another goal was very high from both teams. With 20 minutes left in the game, Kennedy Menzel ’19 served the ball into Linn Mar’s box in from the right side of the field and Van Meter ’17 scored her second goal of the game. City managed to keep Linn Mar from scoring again. The final score was 2-1.

City High went home with a lot of confidence. The Little Hawk’s next game is at Wahlert High School in Dubuque, Iowa. The varsity game kickoff is at 4:15 PM.
