After weeks of preparation, Demetrious Ramirez ‘20, reigning champion of the pep assembly costume contest, was defeated in a crushing loss to competitive newcomer Claire Edwards ‘19.

“It was a good fight,” Ramirez said. “I haven’t been bested in that manner since Eric Thomas [‘18] roamed these halls, but”—a deep sigh—”there’s always fault.”

Upon his crushing defeat, Ramirez fell into a deep and seemingly bottomless despair, wandering the halls aimlessly as he sought the answer to recovery from such a large blow to his record.

On a more hopeful note, he seems to have made a full internal recovery and is currently making strides towards rebuilding his once iconic name and taking back his title, hoping to once again return to his former glory as City High’s champ. When asked about his plans for the future, his response was simple, yet measured.

“We’ll see on Halloween,” Ramirez said. “I doubt anyone will compare.”
