After the six minutes 20 seconds was up, protesters went into the store. The manager asked them to leave, but they restarted their die-in until law enforcement arrived.

SASS Stages Die-In at Brownells on Columbine Anniversary

Before leaving the grounds, the protesters turned around and raised the power fist at the building, where the manager was watching from the window.

Protesters held hands or linked arms during the die-in as a way to support each other.

SASS was formed after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting on February 4, and since has planned walkouts, voter registration drives, and the Iowa City branch of March for Our Lives.

ICCSD schools were closed on Friday, April 20, so students were unable to join in the national walkout. Instead, members of SASS planned their die-ins to coincide with the walkouts.

The die-in lasted six minutes and 20 seconds, the amount of time Nikolas Cruz was an active shooter.

Mariam Keita '20 held Malcolm X's autobiography as she protested.

Members of Students Against School Shootings (SASS) staged a die-in at Brownells, Inc. a gun supply store which claims to be the largest in the world.

The die-in lasted six minutes and 20 seconds, the amount of time Nikolas Cruz was an active shooter.
